LH Ovulation Test
Ovulation tests are used to detect when a woman is most likely to become pregnant. Ovulation is when the egg is released from the ovary. This makes the days around ovulation the period when you are most likely to be able to get pregnant. The LH ovulation test is a personal test designed to detect these days.
A small amount of luteinising hormone (LH) is produced during most of the menstrual cycle. This hormone rises sharply in a short period of time (LH peak) which normally precedes ovulation. For this reason conception is most likely to occur within 36 hours of the LH peak.
How does it work?
The LH ovulation test detects this LH (luteinising hormone) peak by means of a simple urine test. The absorbent tip of the test is left in contact with the urine for at least ten seconds. After three minutes the result is read out:
Positive (two lines will appear):
You will ovulate in the next 24 hours. This is the time when conception is most likely.
Negative (a single line will appear):
Repeat the test the next day until the LH peak and thus ovulation is detected.
